Barred Owl

The Barred owl lives in North America, ranging from southern Canada throughout much of the Midwest and eastern United States and into the mountains of Mexico and Central America.  If you look closely at this picture you will see why this owl got its name.  Look at the feathers, there are horizontal bars around the neck and vertical streaking on the body.
